Bolivia Update

We have a couple more stories and photos we want to share of our trip through Bolivia.  If you have not read the First Impressions of La Paz, Bolivia story that will provide a good introduction to our trip to Bolivia.  I have also added a bunch of new photos to that original post, so even if you have read it before…check out some of the new photos.

Speaking of photos, check out all of our Bolivia Travel Photos there are some really great shots taken by every member of the family, and you can find lots more photos of our other adventures as well by visiting the Portable Parents Travel Photos.  We are in the process of going through the thousands and thousands of photos we have taken during the past 8 months, cleaning them up, organizing them, and uploading them to the web.  It is a big project, but we think we have some fun photos of our adventure…check them out if you like travel photos or want to see more photos of the family. Bolivia was a really quick trip for us.  While usually we spend several months in a country, we “blew through” Bolivia in less than 2 weeks.  We took a lot of photos and videos however, so there is a lot to remember the trip by.  After traveling with kids to Machu Picchu we had a choice of Chile or Bolivia in our trek to get to Argentina, you can read why we chose to travel to Bolivia and see our travel itinerary also.

Bolivia is a country of unsurpassed beauty.  We were not expecting to visit Bolivia so did not have any preconceived idea of what to expect, really our decision to visit the country was made only within a week of when we actually crossed the border.  What we found was a very poor country, and this is saying something after having lived in Ecuador and Peru for ½ the year, that is blessed with incredible natural resources.  Seemingly around every corner you gasp at the next site, a deep gorge, a snow covered peak, a flowering meadow, or a long road stretching as far as your eye can see. We had lots of time in buses, ferries, trains, 4×4’s and any other land transportation you can imagine, and because of this took lots of pictures and videos from the windows of these vehicles.  The quality of the pictures is not great, but we are working on a video “Bolivia from a Window” that will display all of these pictures in an enjoyable format.  We will let everyone know when it is completed. If you have not already signed up for our Email Newsletter I encourage you to take the time to sign up so that you can stay up to date on everything that is going on at portable-parents.com.

Safe Travels…
