Buenos Aires, the End of the Journey?

We arrived in Buenos Aires on Sunday Morning!  We are staying at a friends flat in an area known as Palermo Soho in the South West part of the city.  We have not seen much of the city yet, but 2 things we know for certain…

1) It is winter in Argentina

2)We look so out of place it is ridiculous

Everyone on the streets is bundled with winter coats, scarves, mittens, and nice boots suitable for temperatures in the 30’s and 40’s (Fahrenheit) while we have a rag tag assortment of clothing that is generally unsuitable for staying outside longer than a few minutes at a time.

Additionally, after 11 months of wearing the same few pairs of clothes and washing them on a rock in a stream (ok, that is an exaggeration…sort of) lets just say our clothes are a little dingy and frayed.  Palermo appears to be a trendy little area and we are certainly not the trendy little family these days.  Oh well…what you going to do?

Grandma arrives in 4 weeks and Gigi is SO excited. We will visit with them here for a week or so, and then spend another few weeks in Buenos Aires before flying to Florida in September.

I guess is this our last stop!  We will use BA for day trips and we think we will get over to Uruguay to see a little of that country, but for the most part we will explore the city and enjoy our remaining couple of months in South America.  It is certainly not the end of the journey…but it does feel a little like a very special time in our lives is coming to an end.
