What We Miss Most…Napkins!

We threw our bags into the room and headed out to find a bite to eat.  We had just crossed the border from Bolivia to Argentina after standing in line for 2 hours and before that a 10 hour train ride.  We were all hungry!
We found a small place around the corner from the hostel,...

Bolivia Update

We have a couple more stories and photos we want to share of our trip through Bolivia.  If you have not read the First Impressions of La Paz, Bolivia story that will provide a good introduction to our trip to Bolivia.  I have also added a bunch of new photos to that original post, so...

Why We Chose to Travel to Bolivia

After nearly 3 months in Peru it was time to move on.  We knew we wanted to get to Argentina and spend a couple of months traveling around the western part of the country before we headed to Buenos Aires to meet up with Gina’s mom in August.

Sitting in Cusco we basically had 2 choices...

The Top South American Travel Destinations

South American travel destinations are growing in popularity, and offer travelers some really cool, unique ecological and cultural places of interest to visit and learn more about. First Impressions of La Paz, Bolivia

Crystal clear mountain lakes, endless high plains, majestic snow-capped mountains, a view of a city like no other, dragging luggage through the streets of La Paz, almost being ripped off by money changers, and enjoying the best pizza in all of Latin America…just a little of what we experienced during our travels from Copacabana to...

Just arrived to Bolivia.  Copacabana is the city located along the shore of lake Titicaca.  The borders of Peru and Bolivia cut the lake in 1/2, we spent a couple of days in Puno along the shores of the same lake in Peru and now giving Bolivia a shot.
Been about a week since last post...

Traveling With Kids to Machu Picchu

“I don’t wanna wake up” shatters the morning stillness. A similar refrain is repeated by the other child across the room, “leave me alone!” they shriek wrestling the bed covers back over their heads. The roar of the rushing river outside the bedroom river helps drown out their cries for help from the other guests,...

Nasca Lines, Peru

We decided to catch an evening bus from Pisco…actually Paracas, to Nasca instead of hanging around Pisco any longer.  It was only a 3 hour ride South East and we would be able to get an early flight over the Nasca Lines and then catch another afternoon bus back to Lima.
Nasca is another town with...

Pisco Peru and Islas Ballestas

Our first stop on our southern swing was Pisco.  The guide book said that there is an important port here that supports Peru and specifically the city of Lima.  Our research indicated that only 1 bus company actually stopped in Pisco, and that the other option was to get dropped off on the side of...
